Some affiliate marketers build lots of niche sites, while others focus primarily on an Authority site building. Both can pay off in huge ways if done correctly and with proper market research. Today I am going to talk about the differences in the two and what goes into each.
An Authority site will take more time. An authority site is where you pick a particular niche and build consistent content over and over again. With an authority site, you may feature multiple products. An authority site may have several pages on different topics within the choosen niche. An authority site, once established can compete with some pretty stiff competition.
Authority site building takes time. A niche site can be built in a day or a matter of hours. An authority site is broader, while a niche site is very narrowed down. Knowing which one you are building matters. Many new at affiliate marketing get confused here. They try to create a one page niche site on a topic that is too broad or they give up when the authority site they are trying to build doesn’t take off right away. A niche site is build around one particular product, and authority site is build around many.
The research behind the two is quite different. With an authority site when doing keyword research, you don’t need as many searches per month to use a particular keyword. The reason is you will be using unlimited keywords for different blog posts and these keywords all add up to a lot of traffic. 500 or more searches a month for a particular keyword and you are set for a blog post. I have used a keyword with less searches and done quite well.
With a niche site, you want to get higher search volumes for your keywords. You are only targeting one product. The less competition and the higher the searches, the better. For a niche site you would need at least 3000 monthly searches for it to be profitable. The more the better.
A niche site or mini site is usually a one page very targeted web page. It promotes one product. Many do this as a review of the particular product. It can also be built on free platforms and no need for hosting unless you want to go that route. If you find a high demand product with little competition, you may want to invest into domain name and hosting, but it’s is not mandatory by any means.
Authority site building you would want to have a domain name and hosting. You want it to be yours, for you will be putting lots of work into it. Authority sites take time to build that authority. Once the authority is established, you can often rank for higher competition keywords.
Both ways can be very profitable and I have made money with both. Niche sites can bring you income as you grow your authority site. I teach both of these at Pajama Affiliates.
