Is Your Blog Traffic Going Nowhere?
So you are finally getting some good traffic to your blog but the money is just not showing up? All the traffic to your site in the world isn’t very rewarding if it doesn’t convert into income. It can make a lot of bloggers decide to give up on their blogs because it’s so discouraging to see all your hard work and traffic converting into very little money for the time you’ve put in. 🙁
Maybe you have done everything you know?
You’ve got your keywords…
You’ve done the best SEO you know how…
Social media has been flooded with your presence…
….and your sales are still dismal? 🙁
You’re wondering where you went wrong? What could the problem be?
We’re going to discuss what some of those issues can be right now… and hopefully shed some light on your situation!
How to Convert Traffic Into Sales
Are You Targeting Your Market?
High converting products are always a plus, but sometimes even a high converting product is not being targeted correctly.
Take for example a post on a recipe in a slow cooker and the hot product you are promoting is a slow cooker. You might even be on page one, yet not one sale. Why is that?
The problem here is a buyer keyword problem. Most likely, your reader already has a slow cooker and isn’t interested in buying a new slow cooker.
For recipe posts, special ingredients and specialized tools are good products to add BUT we have to put ourselves in the readers shoes FIRST.
I see this kind of thing all the time, this issue is they don’t know how to target their market!
Does Your Affiliate Product Suck?
This is especially something bloggers need to pay attention to in information posts. Watch your conversion, if a product isn’t converting on an information based post, it’s time to change it out for something else.
If you have done a product review on a lame product, there really isn’t much you can do there, BUT on an information-based post, you can change out products and test others to see which converts better and I highly suggest you do.
Maybe it’s just your product choices suck and you need to try something else? Are you thinking outside the box when it comes to choosing affiliate products that convert?
It’s important not to be hasty in removing your affiliate product from the post too soon. Give it some time, give it some clicks BUT if you find it’s not turning a sale, it’s time to think about trying something else.
Often you can find another product that converts better if you find that the original one you chose isn’t working. I test different products often on my information blogs, I let it sit for a bit and see how well it does.
When I find one that converts sales, I stick with it. I even look for more keywords that I can target in other posts using the same product once I know it converts well for me in my niche. I’ve had blogs that solely promoted one or two products that really converted well.
Do You Have a STRONG Call to Action?
When we do blog evaluations at Pajama Affiliates, this one is common. The call to action is not clearly visible, or worse, it’s way at the bottom at the end of the post. That’s great if every single reader is going to makes it to the bottom of your post, but what are the chances of that?
A strong call to action should be near the top ALWAYS. We live in an age where readers want INSTANT gratification. They come looking for something and the blogger fails to make it clear or loses the reader before they find it.
Calls to action should be CLEAR to the reader.
Contextual links need to be bold, blue and underlined.
If you’re showing a product picture on the page, be sure to INCLUDE A BUY BUTTON under so it’s clear they can purchase it now. Tools like Easy Product Displays makes this really easy for you to do if you’re not sure how.
We need to make it simple and easy for our readers to buy from us. A clear product display with a buy button as opposed to just an image of the product will convert at a higher rate. Believe it or not, not every user knows they can click on a plain image.

Are Your Affiliate Links in the Right Places?
Do your affiliate links make sense? By this I mean, are you putting them in places where a reader is going to click and buy? Perhaps the reason you’re not converting sales is that you are not using your affiliate links properly?
Affiliate links should be placed in areas where a reader is going to want more information.
Your affiliate link should deliver to the reader exactly what they think they’re getting.
Affiliate links should be strategically placed…
1) in a place that makes sense and 2) in a clear and concise way.
Learning how to write a blog post that converts sales means knowing HOW and WHERE to place your affiliate links!
Are You Using Your Voice?
Are you talking to your readers like they are at your kitchen table or are you just talking AT your reader. Spitting out facts and information without showing your personality is not how you convert traffic into sales on your website.
People buy from those they trust. If you aren’t relating to your reader as a person, you may be missing some sales. Do you tell them why you personally love a product and what it has done for you or do you just regurgitate stats from the page on Amazon for example?
Are you Real or Robotic?
Are You TARGETING YOUR MARKET?!
Are you targeting your audience? Do you know who your audience is? Are your posts relevant to a specific market of people? or are you all over the place? Are you talking about recipes, parenting, laundry, finance and throw pillows in the same place?
One thing I see a lot of is blogs that just don’t make any sense when you land on them. The blog name might say one thing but the content and visual appeal say something else.
As soon as a reader lands on the page your blog should communicate to them what you’re about immediately!
If you have a blog that has a lot going on, it’s very easy for a reader to get lost.
Your blog needs to make sense as a whole and navigation should be clear and concise.
A lot of people will just click off a site if they don’t get what you’re about from the get-go.
The best affiliate marketers are targeting their audience.
Do you know who your audience is? or are you too broad and scattered?
What the Gurus Don’t Tell You…
Let us help you personally with our blog evaluation services!
There are so many factors that play into converting your readers into buyers.
A lot of gurus want to sell you the latest eBook or course on how to make money in affiliate marketing but very few gurus teach you the dynamics of conversions the way we do!
Those gurus don’t offer you the feedback, experience and support that we do.
Most of the gurus will just tell you to how to find a keyword with a large search volume and low competition and that is about it. There is more to it than this.
All keywords are not created equal and search volume does not mean it’s going to target a buying audience.
Stop shooting in the dark and learn what the gurus don’t tell you!
