Clickbank Changes – Is It All About Integrity?

February 1, 2013 By: Robin Cockrellcomment

Clickbank is one of the leading market places for affiliates.  Many have relied on it for a long time as a main source of income.  Yet the Clickbank changes are tossing some obstacles in our paths.  Are these clickbank changes a good thing or a bad thing?

This is not my first post about the changes at Clickbank Marketplace.  I wrote about it at Clickbank Marketplace-What’s Really Going On.  I spoke of how it would help us to make wiser choices to the affiliate programs that we promote.

I have watched my account jump up and down over the last couple of months with these changes is place.  I have went from above average to unacceptable and back to good and up and down.  Frustrating to say the least.  Here is the thing.  These Clickbank changes have forced me to look at the vendors I promote and analyze exactly what is going on.

The result of this analyzing of my chosen vendors in the clickbank marketplace is that I am now thinking a lot about integrity.  Not just the integrity of the vendor I am promoting, but how it reflects on my own.  I may very well have to rethink a lot of what I have been doing.

You see my highest converting product that I promote there also happens to be the one with the highest returns.  Now I don’t know about you, but I don’t like returns in the first place.  Until I saw how this product was affecting my account, I had not really looked at this vendor this closely.  I did purchase the product and I do like it, but I am not the majority out there.

Upon closer inspection, this vendor uses a lot of hype.  He is good, don’t get me wrong, and his product is good as well.  The thing about hype though even though it converts, the conversions don’t always stick.  I think people get so wrapped up in the hype that they expect more to be delivered.  Hence, the return rate.  I don’t do a lot of hype in the promotion of my Pajama Affiliate Home Study Course and it may not convert like hotcakes, but to date I have had zero returns.

So, I guess what I am saying here is my integrity is important to me.  More important than high conversions.  It really sucks that I may have to drop this vendor as he makes me a lot of money.  It’s a bit of a set back.  I am however trying to not only build something here online that makes me money, but also build something I can be proud of.

It may set me back for a while but that’s okay.  I can rebuild it and have an even stronger foundation.  Those that have just started with affiliate marketing are in a very good place with Clickbank now.  Those of us that have been at it for a while, well we may have to rethink a bit and find some new products that resonate with our integrity.

If it weren’t for these Clickbank changes, I may have never questioned how my integrity is reflected in the products I promote.  So maybe I will be giving myself a pay cut here for a few months. but long term, it’s only a good thing.  I will take long term satisfaction over instant gratification any day.
