Finding a Profitable Niche
In this part of the course Lesley and I hope to teach you more than just finding profitable niches through numbers only. Market research is important but more important is your passions, your interests and your problems.
Finding a profitable niche means finding an audience that you can relate too.
People buy from genuine people they can relate too, and they buy from them again and again. Not only do they buy from genuine people but they also share these same articles with their friends and family.
The ticket to a long lasting residual income is to put YOURSELF into the niche! If you simply want to throw up a niche site and sound like a generic product review – that’s not going to hold much weight in the eyes of search engines. Anyone can rehash what a product review said about something, where’s the value to anyone in that?
Unique, quality content is king. You will get so much more out of blogging and working at home if you stick to being you and talk about the things you know. Not only will you be fulfilled, your readers will be and the money will just naturally flow.
Nailing Down Your Passions, Problems and Interests
The first part of this course is going to be nailing down your passions, interests and problems. You are going to write down 7 passions, 7 interests and 7 problems that you have. Do not consider any products or anything at first, just write down 7 passions, 7 interests and 7 problems that you have.
- Passions are things you love to talk about. (politics, nutrition, etc)
- Problems are things you deal personally (special diet, phobias, disorders, etc.)
- Interests are things you do daily (crafts, homeschool, coach sports, etc.)
Take your time making your own list and really think about it. Once you create your list, you’re going to take your top 10 favorites from the list above to do market research with in our next few videos.
Narrowing Down Your Niche
These videos will show you how to narrow down your passions, interests and problems list into a micro-niche. We will show you how to take your favorite niches and run them through your keyword tool to find micro niche markets that you can blog about.

They Key to Finding a Profitable Niche
If you’re not using Jaaxy, you can use the free Keyword Shitter Tool. It will give you keywords that you can take to the Google keyword planner tool and look at the data there. It will take more time than Jaaxy but it’s a good free alternative.
Put on Your Thinking Cap!
Once you find something is a good micro-niche, you’ll want to then think about the different ways you can personalize your niche. Here are just a few ideas that you can think about:
- Can you write in depth about the micro niche?
- Are there products to refer people too in this niche?
- What products do you use in this micro niche?
- Can you take pictures?
- Can you make videos?
- Can you start a Facebook page or group to share this niche with others?
By now, there has to be a micro-niche (or two or three) that you’ve already started to monetize in your brain! Feel free to post in our mastermind group for help at any time.
Finding Affiliate Programs for Your Niche
You want to start thinking in a “monetary fashion.” You can sell without being salesy by slipping links in where you think readers will want more information and using product displays in a classy way that add color and visual appeal to a page.
Think to yourself:
What sort of products can you link to in your blog posts that will earn you a commission?
What sort of products are you ALREADY using that you could mention in your blogs posts?
In our videos we discussed the micro-niches for:
Example: Womens Adult Acne
I can think of a few things right off the top of my head for this womens adult acne micro-niche that work and have affiliate programs:
- ProActiv
- Face washes and cleansers (on Amazon)
- Special tools for facial grooming; tweezers, vanity mirrors with lights, etc. (on Amazon)
- Hair ties and headbands (on Amazon) for pulling your hair out of your face
- Medicated body washes (on Amazon) for acne on the shoulders, back, chest and neck
- Natural herbs, ointments, vitamins and supplements
Example: Increasing Breastmilk Supply
If I went with a micro-niche like increasing breastmilk supply I would join affiliate programs that sold these sorts of products and I would talk about them in my articles.
Herbs (lots of different online merchants carry herbs)
- Vitamins (lots of different online merchants carry herbs)
- Stress relievers, back massagers
- Special pillows for comfort
- Comfortable nursing Bras
- Nursing blouses, tops, dresses
How to Find Affiliate Programs in Google
Robin has made a video here that shows you how you can find affiliate programs and products.
[s3mv]CR-AF-Finding Affiliate Programs.mp4,600,338,false,false[/s3mv]
There are literally thousands of affiliate programs out there. You can usually find them by just going to Google.com and typing in:
- PRODUCT + Affiliate Program”
- STORE NAME + Affiliate Program”
- YOUR MICRO-NICHE + Affiliate Program”
Just a few affiliate programs that many of us use are:
- Amazon
- Clickbank (digital products)
- ShareASale (tons of awesome merchants)
- Affiliate Window (Etsy, Booking.com, Fiverr and more)
Don’t forget, you can make money with AD REVENUE too! Google, Yahoo and even Amazon have Ad programs that pay you per click.
The beauty of Amazon.com (I really could write an eBook on this alone) is that they sell everything. In fact, there’s even a book all about Amazon.com and Jeff Bezos called “The Everything Store”
Amazon.com is a household name! Many of the times, all I have to do is get someone over to Amazon and they will buy something, even if it’s not the product I sent them there for originally. Yes, you still get a commission on those.
Once you have a Micro-Niche figured out and you know some of the products you would like to sell. You can move on to building a website and learning how to build a blog post that converts sales.
