Growing a business can be challenging. Just getting started can be intimidating alone. There are learning curves, ups and downs, and setbacks. I have had and still do experience my share of setbacks and learning curves with my affiliate marketing business. I have days I am more inspired and motivated than others.
One thing that every good coach is going to tell you is to know your why. Why do you do what you do? Why do you want to do it? What motivates you to keep going? What is your why. They say to discover your why. So you would think the most important question in business to ask yourself is what is your why.
Yes, knowing your why is huge, but I have found there is a question that takes this deeper and can make a massive difference in your success if you really take the time to answer it in depth and be honest with yourself. The question?
WHY NOT? WHY NOT YOU?
Think about it. I see people making a lot more money than me in affiliate marketing. I also know some who make a lot less. Why am I not making more. The answer can’t be anything outside of you such as blaming it on anything other than you and your ability. In other words you can’t blame your spouse, friends, whoever for holding you back. You can’t blame it on the fact that you have 5 kids, you can’t blame it on your physical handicaps or illnesses, for there is always someone who has it worse that is doing it anyway.
So why not? Why can’t you build your business up to six figures, seven figures or more? What are you doing to stand in your own way?
Take me for example. I am a huge procrastinator. I could use the excuse that this is just the way I am, but that is just lame. That really isn’t the way I am. It’s a habit that I have learned and reinforced in my own head for years. When I answered that question, it became clear to me that this holds me back. It became crystal clear that if I want it to be me that creates a successful business, I have to change this habit.
Another area as to why not for me is I censor myself too much. I hold back on saying what I really think or what I really want to say to avoid offending others. Always the diplomat. What is clear to me now is that those that are offended aren’t my ideal clients anyway. By not censoring, I will draw the like minded people to me and grow my business.
I could list many other of my why nots. What are your why nots? What do you tell yourself as the reason your business hasn’t reached it’s full potential yet? Dig deep to find your why nots. Be honest with yourself Why not you?
