3 Tips Beginner Bloggers Must Do

January 26, 2015 By: Robin Cockrell1 Comment

I have been working with newbie bloggers for over 2 years now. It’s often really simple tips that a beginner blogger fails to do that make a world of difference in the success of their blog. If you are new at blogging, make sure you follow these 3 tips for beginner bloggers.

1. No image, irrelevant images, or just plain small images. Images are important. An image catches the attention. I am far more likely to click on a site with an interesting image. Ever scrolled through your facebook feed and stopped to read something that had a captivating image.

If you have a great image that stands out, your posts will be far more likely to get shared. This tip is one that many beginner bloggers just don’t know about. You can also optimize your images for the search engines. I cover this herein my video on 5 tips to optimize your blog posts.

2. Speaking of social sharing, I can’t count how many blogs I go to that have no social share buttons or the social share buttons are not obvious. Social sharing is huge today and without it, you will never get the chance to go viral and you will be missing out on a ton of traffic. I know a work at home mom that gets over 20,000 visits just from Pinterest. Lots of blogs out there without a Pin button.

*The floating share buttons on the side of your blog are not obvious. It’s more effective at the top and bottom of your post.

*note that without good images, you won’t stand a chance on Pinterest.

3. Enabling comments and making it easy to post a comment. Out of the 3 tips for beginner bloggers, this may be the most important. You see comments are like adding new content to your site, only you don’t have to do it, others are doing it for you.

I can’t tell you how many blogs I have wanted to comment on that don’t even have that option enabled. Then there are the blogs that do have it activated but I have to jump through hoops to do it. I have to log into something or create an account on your platform. I am just not going to go through the trouble. Make it simple or you won’t get comments. If you are wanting to censor your comments, you can always set your settings accordingly.

The above are 3 tips beginner bloggers often miss than can cost you traffic which will cost you sales.

These are just 3 tips beginner bloggers learn in Pajama Affiliates. Do you have any tops for beginner bloggers to share? Please comment below.
