What are the Best Affiliate Programs to Promote on a Blog?

What are the Best Affiliate Programs to Promote on My Blog?

Affiliate Marketing Programs to PromoteWe all want those high paying affiliate programs that convert readers into buyers, I know, I get it!

Do you know what the best affiliate programs for your blog are?

Are you putting the time into researching the best affiliate program for your niche? If not you could be missing out on some higher paying commissions in programs you didn’t even know existed!

One of the BEST things about the Pajama Affiliates courses is that they are not limited to one affiliate program.  A lot of our members promote various affiliate programs that fit their blog niche.  Because every niche is different, the programs and products promoted will vary a lot.

You can promote physical products and digital products on your blog through different affiliate programs.

Digital products would be ebooks, videos, digital downloads and anything that isn’t going to be sent physically in the mail.  A lot of people buy digital products online, your website hosting is a digital product, our blogging program is a digital product.   The online tools that you’re using right now to work your blog probably have an affiliate program.

Physical products would be anything they’re going to receive physically in person.  There are endless physical products to promote though retailers like Amazon, Etsy, WayFair, Zulily and more.

ClickBank has Digital Products to Promote on a Blog

best affiliate programs to promoteI’ve been doing affiliate marketing since 2009 and I started out in the dating and relationship niche. I would promote digital products through Clickbank.

I’ve made in excess of ten-thousand dollars a month promoting ClickBank digital products in my niche.  It’s by far my favorite affiliate programs to promote on my blog.

Clickbank is a marketplace specializing in eProducts; meaning, eBooks, audio, videos and things that can be downloaded digitally or viewed online for a price.

ClickBank is my most profitable affiliate program that I’m apart of because I’m comfortable promoting digital products in my niche.  My audience isn’t looking for a physical product like a blender or digital camera from me in my niche.

I learned a lot from promoting digital products on Clickbank since I first started blogging.  I’ve got digital products of my own that I have created and now promote them on my own blogs! It all started with what I learned from ClickBank.

Amazon has Physical Products to Promote on a Blog

One of our coaches and mentors in the Pajama Affiliates Facebook group is mostly promoting physical products through Amazon Associates.  Amazon is one of the most powerful shopping platforms in the world and they have an affiliate program that converts beautifully.

One of the best things about promoting Amazons affiliate program is that you get credit for anything they buy on Amazon.  Even if you sent them to view a book and they buy a toaster, you will get credit!  Where else can your reader buy books, toasters, dog treats and swimsuits online?

Another powerful feature of the Amazon marketplace is that it’s a household name that people trust.  A lot of people have “Amazon Prime” and they will receive free shipping when they buy from Amazon.  It’s by far one of the best affiliate programs to promote for bloggers who have physical products in their blog posts that they can link too.  Recipe bloggers for example can link to the kitchen tools they use and craft bloggers can link to supplies they need.  The possibilities are so so big with Amazons affiliate program.

One thing about Amazon is that you need to make sure that you can promote them in your state.  There are a few states that cannot use the Amazon Affiliate program, it’s a bummer for sure, but there are other affiliate programs so don’t fret too much if you find out your state is not allowed.

How Do I Find the Best Affiliate Programs to Promote on My Blog?

One way to find out if there’s an affiliate program available for a company is to go to Google and type the “name of the company+affiliate program.”

  • brand + affiliate program (i.e. Ulta Beauty affiliate program)
  • online store name + affiliate program (i.e. Etsy affiliate program)
  • store name + affiliate program (i.e. Home Depot affiliate Pprogram)
  • product type + affiliate program (i.e. organic dog food affiliate program)

How to Find Affiliate Programs IN YOUR NICHE?

A lot of well known companies and retailers have affiliate programs of their own.  Who wouldn’t want free sales people pushing their products?

What are the Best Affiliate Programs to Promote on MY Blog?

Knowing your audience and niche is vital when it comes to promoting affiliate programs.  People will not just buy anything, you need to give them affiliate products that make sense on your blog.   That’s why our online courses are very targeted on teaching people how to blog about something they are passionate about and have experience with.

The best way to promote any affiliate program on your blog is TARGET YOUR AUDIENCE.  Only recommend products that are relevant to the blog post and your niche.

You will convert more sales with the affiliate programs you promote when you know your niche well enough to relate to the reader!

  • If you’re blogging about recipes, link to kitchen tools and specialized ingredients.
  • If you’re in the dog training niche, link to books and training tools that you use.
  • If you’re in the crafting niche, link to the specialized tools, supplies and crafting things you use.
  • In the relationship niche, link to digital eBooks, online courses, specialized books, sexual health products and other things to improve relations.

I could go on here forever!  There are so many affiliate products to promote on a blog it shocks me that I don’t see more bloggers doing it.  Affiliate links when used properly, benefit both you and the reader.

Promote Affiliate Products that Have Mutual Benefit!

For example, I have a Pink Salt website.  Yes, pink salt!   On that site I have information about cooking on a pink salt block. Now, I’m not trying to sell them the salt block, because obviously they have that if they’re looking for “how to cook on a pink salt block” BUT what the reader may not know is that those salt blocks are heavy and they require some heavy duty heat resistant gloves!  I can’t tell you how many pairs of these gloves I sell as a result of that “How to cook on a pink salt block” blog post… probably hundreds of them by now!    I have helped my reader and made a few bucks doing it!  That’s how you benefit the reader and yourself with affiliate programs.

If you’re looking for an affiliate program to promote FIRST – you’re doing this backwards!

First you need to find a niche that you are experienced in.

Second, you need to build a blog or website around that niche.

Third, you need to know how to target your audience so that you’re not pissing in the wind **THIS ONE IS CRITICAL***

Here are some things to look for when considering an affiliate program!

  • Commission rate!  What % of the $ sale are they paying you?
  • Payday!  When will they be paying you?
  • Threshold!  How much do you need to get paid?

There are so many affiliate programs out there that you can be promoting in your niche, some that pay much higher than others – and much faster!

Pay attention to HOW MUCH you’ll be paid and WHEN!  Be sure to always check your THRESHOLD amount because they will not pay until you meet this amount!

Affiliate programs like Commission Junction have been known to NOT PAY YOU unless you reach a certain threshold amount in a certain period of time.  I wouldn’t sign up for a program like that unless I knew I could sell it like hot cakes because you risk never being paid at all.

The best affiliate marketing programs to promote on your blog are the ones that fit your blog niche, they are not always necessarily the highest paying ones.

Amazon’s affiliate program supports my partner’s entire family, even though the commissions are dismal – why?  Because she’s able to make it up in volume!

Research each of the affiliate programs you are considering!!

If you want feedback on a particular one that you think is popular, post in our support group, ask others, find out all you can before you promote them!

There are a ton of great affiliate programs out there that are probably right for your niche!  Research them and find the ones that are going to pay you the best!

I promote Amazon, Walmart and Wayfair because they are the most well-known to the people I market too, which are your normal everyday moms and stuff. I’m doing quite well with all of them right now. Slow and steady wins the race.
