Many confuse website and blog. Though they are sort of the same thing, you can have a website with out a blog. So if you wondering why does my business need a blog, let me tell you this. A blog can bring in a lot more traffic and visitors which turn into paying customers. Doesn’t matter if you are a local business or an internet business selling products and services, your business will grow more with a blog than without.
If you just have a website with just a few pages, you don’t have near the chance of getting found in the search engines and you are missing customers. The reason you need a blog for your business is to broaden your reach! One blog post can rank in the search engines, if you know how to optimize for it, for many many different search terms. Add more blog posts and you rank for even more and get found more.
Blogs broaden your reach and bring you more traffic to your website. A blog gives people a chance to get to know you as well. People will be more likely to buy from you if they can get a feel for you. Blogs build trust.
I can tell you from experience that the more I blog on my site, the more visitors I get. When someone lands on your blog where you are sharing information they often want to learn more. This is when you link them back to your products or services. When the land on your products or services, they already know a bit about what you do.
For example, if you land on this blog post right here on my website and you follow one of my links, it’s likely to take you to my product page where I actually teach people how to set up websites and blogs and get found in the search engines and how to grow their business online. Maybe you were just searching for the term why does my business need a blog. Had I not written this blog post, you and I would never have met!
How many people have you not met because your business does not have a blog? The yellow pages just don’t cut it and advertising is expensive. Facebook pages don’t perform like they used to since the algorithm has changed. Social media is powerful, but you are still leaving a lot of money on the table if you only rely on that. A blog is a way to laser target your market if done correctly. May I also mention that it is not expensive to do.
I don’t suggest going at this blindly. To learn how to target that audience correctly would take you a while, trust me, I am self taught and it took me over a year. I can cut your learning curve down to about a week. One of my students had her own website and blog up in a day after going through my online course.
